Collaborations

The Altemps Quartet enhances the variety of its repertoire by expanding to include collaborations with other musicians. Together with mezzo-soprano Marta Fumagalli, they offer a programme centered around Schubert’s Lieder, where the piano accompaniment is transcribed for string quartet. With clarinettist Lorenzo Coppola they plan to explore a cornerstone of the repertoire for clarinet d’amore, Mozart’s Quintet K581, complemented by more neglected works by C. M. von Weber and A. Reicha. With fortepianist Costantino Mastropriamo, they present a Mozart programme featuring chamber-versions of the the concertos for fortepiano and orchestra K 414 in A major  e K 415 in C major, following an established  practice of the time.
They also propose classics of the romantic repertoire such as Robert Schumann’s Quartet op. 47 and Quintet Op. 44.

A NEW FORMAT
In addition to concerts in a classical format, the Altemps Quartet also offers a more informal “educational” model.

The performance will be accompanied by an introduction by the performer-researcher Vanni Moretto, who will illustrate the compositional structure of the piece, the historical context in which it can be placed, its vicissitudes through the ages and the challenges that its interpretation poses.
This conversational format offers more space for an exchange with the audience, which, though active involvement, is able to partake in the wonderful process  underpinning the performance of a string quartet.
